SAS 70 Certification
What is SAS 70?
SAS 70 is an acronym for Statement on Auditing Standard 70. It is an accounting standard developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountant that audits the internal controls of service organizations. After rigorous evaluation and testing, an independent auditor issues a report, which includes the auditor's opinion as to whether the service organization has the proper internal controls and security safeguards in place when processing or hosting customer data.
Why is SAS 70 Important?
SAS 70 compliance indicates that an organization is fairly representing the controls and security measures that it has in place for safeguarding customer information. By having the audit performed by an independent third party it provides transparency into the company and gives the organization's customers assurance that the proper protocols are being used to maintain the privacy of their information.
