Version 3.0.9.2795 Released

The entire staff at Intronis is happy to announce the next release in the 3.0 series. The 2795 build touts tighter integration with Windows Server 2008 running Exchange 2007 and/or SQL Server 2008.

We’ve also added a useful new feature for partners and IT consultants who manage the backup process for their customers. If you’ve ever had a customer open the software and change some settings only to find out they disabled something they shouldn’t have, you’ll be happy to know that you can now password protect the software at startup! Simply load the Backup Monitor, go to Preferences and check off the password prompt option. The next time the Monitor loads the user will be prompted to enter in the account password. This represents another one of our “you asked for it, you get it” features. (You’re welcome Jason!)

You may be surprised by another release, but way back in Q4 of ‘08 we made it our goal to release a new version of our product at least twice a quarter. The speed in which we can now release fully QA’ed software is made possible by our adoption of the SCRUM software development process 18 months ago, as well as our involvement of actual customers in the process. And lots of Red Bull. Lots. So look out for another release in about six weeks!

Cheers!

Intronis Awarded 2009 Everything Channel Five-Star Partner Program Guide Certification

Boston, MA – April 10, 2009 – Intronis, a leading provider of secure online data backup, archiving and recovery solutions for service providers and businesses, today announced it has been recognized by Everything Channel as one of North America’s top information-technology (IT) vendors for its Reseller program.

Intronis’ Volume Reseller program was awarded a Five-Star certification in the Emerging Company category (defined as being founded 2001 or later), in Everything Channel’s 15th annual 2009 Partner Program Guide (PPG), acknowledging its commitment and strength of its programs for reseller partners which include IT integrators, technology solution providers, and consultants. A list of PPG winners will appear in the March 30 issue of CRN magazine, the channel industry’s leading publication, and online at www.Channelweb.com, the world’s largest channel industry portal.

Intronis’ Volume Reseller program is Intronis’ premium program designed for partners, offering the greatest flexibility to customize partner’s service offerings to fit the specific needs of their customers.  With Intronis’ Online Backup and Recovery Platform, partners automate the process of backing up their customer’s data offsite and can restore their customer’s data three times faster than other solutions.  Partners can further customize their service offerings by leveraging Intronis’ white-labeling option, providing additional flexibility that partners require.

Research for the 2009 Everything Channel Partner Programs Guide and the Everything Channel Five-Star Program was conducted by Everything Channel’s Institute for Partner Education & Development (IPED). IPED analyzed 130 vendor programs rating vendors’ responses to nearly 60 in-depth questions about their partner programs in the six elements of sales support, marketing support, partner profitability, channel operations, communications and partner recruitment. To ensure fair comparisons, companies were placed in one of four categories based on company size.  IPED weighted the responses to each question about such program elements as sales support and partner recruitment so that the total weight given to a vendor’s answers in any of the six elements can potentially be scored as high as 100. The weighting scheme varies depending on the company size and product type and is based on IPED proprietary analysis methodology and intellectual property.  In each of the four company categories, the companies with the highest overall weighted scores received the Everything Channel Five-Star Program designation.

“Now more than ever, the quality of a vendor’s partner program determines how profitable its partners will be. So for their commitment to their partners, and their efforts to build quality programs, we congratulate this year’s Five-Star Partner Program Guide winners for helping to drive greater revenue in the channel,” said Robert C. DeMarzo, senior vice president and editorial director, Everything Channel.

“Intronis’ continued commitment to the success of our partners continues to be the foundation of how we develop our partner and on boarding programs,” said Eric Webster, Vice President of Sales and Client Services.  ”We have seen a record increase in partner signups in the first quarter of 2009 and we continue to see tremendous success and growth within our partner programs.”

Scrum Burndown at Intronis Technologies

We were pleased to read the post Jeff Sutherland wrote on his blog on Sunday, April 5, 2009 where he stated,

“Intronis, one of my venture group portfolio companies, started their first Scrum with burning down story points and has never looked back.”

Thanks Jeff! We are honored to receive such a compliment. For us, the point system is sort of a cross between hours and difficulty level. It took a few Sprints to get used to the point system, but now that we have, we know exactly what a person means when they assign a point value of a ‘2′ to a Story. The point system has created a sense of freedom wherein we don’t focus on hours, we simply focus on burning down our points. This has led to a decrease in stress around the office and a significant increase in velocity.
