InfoBit Systems

The Situation

Andrew Bichler was an IT consultant for many years before founding InfoBit Systems in 2005. His company provides his SMB clients with Fortune 500-level IT service, including disaster recovery and backup—all with a high level of availability.

As part of their portfolio, InfoBit Systems provides a server or a hosted system for their clients. However, Bichler uncovered a need for a hybrid solution that pairs with cloud backup.

The Challenge

“Some of our clients didn’t want the cost incurred by a server,” Bichler explained. “For some of our other clients that were on our hosted system, we still wanted to provide a good method of getting their data offsite—either from their location or from our data center.”

“Clearly there is less expenditure involved with an online solution, and cloud backup just seemed to be the perfect complement to that appliance,” Bichler said. “There are other cloud backup solutions that are more for small or home offices. That’s great for them, but that’s not a solution that I can resell with any confidence.”

The Solution

Bichler, who has an engineering background, trialed Intronis’ software and was impressed with its performance.

“I saw how it operated and how it backed up with VSS writers, and it was a no-brainer,” Bichler said. “I thought, ‘this is a slick application; this is just as good as a Symantec.’ Intronis’ software does everything that you look for in a product, and it’s SaaS.”

“Intronis provides the complete package—SQL, Exchange, and integrations into Office at the desktop level. Plus the encryption key, the plugins, and the branding were key factors for us. And at the same time, the price point makes it attractive to me and to my clients.”

The Result

Bichler found that by adding Intronis to their lineup, InfoBit Systems was able to offer their clients a greater array of options.

“I have an apparel manufacturer that has a SQL server that links their images to a separate Windows XP machine. So I was able to offer them the perfect solution that would get all of their data offsite. Had I not partnered with Intronis, I wouldn’t have had that to offer them and probably wouldn’t have gotten the deal. It would have been nothing.”

“It really was a homerun for everyone,” Bichler said.
